OH MY! I relate to this post 100%!!!! So many times I’ve literally laughed out loud of the AUDACITY of parent emails. I wish that “taxpayers” email would have came to me!

NO WONDER our children are struggling to maintain high SEL levels and “state” test scores!!

Bless their hearts! We need to have a come to Jesus meetings with ALL parents of school aged children!

Unfortunately too true. There is plenty of blame, but parents are at the top of the list. If the school does "social promotion" find another school! DO IT NOW! Home schooling is sometimes an option. School administrators also carry a big chunk. If they support "social promotion" instead of education then they should be removed from the educational system. Some teacher unions support "social promotion." It is my strong belief that MOST teachers truly want to help the child. Far too often their hands are tied by the administration, society and social media.

If I had a magic wand ... Sadly I do not!

Interesting article! i teach in a community college and I see a mix of students. Some just don’t seem to get it and can’t get assignments done, no matter how I try to help. I offer one-on-one instruction time and they dont come in. I explain we are getting them ready for the work environment and procrastination will kill their job prospects. i tell them that they are building their work networks here in school with their classmates may hire them in the future based upon their work ethic here in class. I provide personal stories to reinforce my messaging…some seem completely unmotivated. I often wondered what was happening in the workplace. Thanks for answering!
