I love this one! My Mama and I also collected Green Stamps and I have some similar "save up for" stories. Mama also chain smoked, but was a Methodist, which allowed for cussing and late night poker games!
In Ontario, California we actually had a Green Stamp Store! Living in High Cotton! My mom would drag me along to walk down the aisles and marvel at all the shiny things we could have for just a few more books of stamps. It wasn't Christmas Shopping, but it came close! Yes, I also helped lick and paste the stamps sometimes. Thank you for this wonderful memory!

Oh. There was a lot of cussing and drinking. Mama mostly made fun of Jim and Tammy Faye for sport.
